A friend shared this on her Facebook page and I thought it was a great article. It does show there are indeed Christians who actually get it. It was written by the Rev. Emily C Heath.
Enjoy.

Fake Jovan Belcher Twitter account to get Donations for Suicide Prevention is a Hoax
In the wake of a horrific murder-suicide involving Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, someone with a truly twisted mind has seen an opportunity to grab for a little buzz on Twitter with what appears to be a false donation scheme. The handle @Jovan_Belcher appeared today after the news about tragic events surrounding Belcher broke, claiming to be an agent now using the handle to ask for "prayers and sympathy," promising for every retweet or Facebook like, a dollar would be donated towards suicide prevention, and quoting last statements to the agent from Belcher. Inquiry has revealed Belcher's agency is not involved with the account — just some sick prankster trying to benefit from someone else's tragedy.

Why is Christmas a Federal Holiday?
From the article.
"The Government Didn't "Name it" Christmas
Yes, I see the point that the statute includes the word "Christmas" and that the word has a clear religious connotation (aka "Christ"). But, as the Christmas Wikipedia entry notes, the date of December 25 may have been selected as early as the 4th Century (more than a millennium before the U.S. government existed)! And it was certainly called "Christmas" before the federal statute.
If the government were to take a random day and call it "Christ Day" then this argument would be more compelling. But the date and name simply didn't originate with the government. Admittedly, the statute does still acknowledge "Christmas" but that is in line with the Court's rationale, which I explain below.
"The Calendar of Public Activities"
If you read the Court's opinion it offers secular purposes for the holiday such as "accommodat[ing] the calendar of public activities" and "recognizing the cultural significance of the holiday." In short, the "public calendar" had a holiday before the government passed the statute, and that holiday was "Christmas."

Letter to Radio show host Dr. Laura Pointing Out How Silly it is to use the Bible as a reason to do or not to do something (This is brilliant)
As anyone who reads our blog or listens to our podcast knows we support marriage equality so when this appeared on my Facebook wall I just had to share it with the rest of you. Don't know who the author is or if it was actually sent to radio host Dr. Laura but it shows just how trying to use the bible to say homosexuality is wrong or really why we should or should not do things is a pretty weak argument. As this letter points out in a rather humorous way, the bible says all kinds of things we are not supposed to do many of which would make life rather difficult to live. So enjoy this one, it is great. The letter starts off like it supports Dr. Laura's homophobic views but quickly points out how silly they really are.
Dr. Laura letter-
Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them.
1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual "uncleanliness" - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there degrees of abomination?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I'm confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.
Your adoring fan.

One of the dumbest comments I've heard about our choice to be Child Free
Posted by Zman
Now Littleflurry and I have heard all kinds of dumb comments when people find out we are child free by choice. Trust me we've heard them all. One of the dumbest comments is, "well god expects everyone to have children." My response to this is to say, "So you're telling me that this god of yiours who supposedly loves and cares for all human kind expects people to have kids weather they want them or not?" Really does not make this god seem very loving or caring to expect people who have no interest in having kids to have them and makes god seem rather selfish. Not the kind of god I'd chose to believe in. To the people who use this stupid argument I'd suggest they turn the news on once in a whle and see how some people treat and neglect their kids. Or just walk in to any Walmart and see how many people don't even pay attention to what their kids are doing. Obviously there are plenty of people who should not be having kids.
If there really is a god and I don't believe there is but let's say there is just for the sake of argument, I believe it would expect people to make up their own minds about having kids. One thing I have noticed from reading the bible, yes I'm an atheist but I have read it, The god of the bible seems to only think of himself and does not really seem to care about what humans think or feel. Not the kind of god I'd chosse to believe in.

President Obama signs 923 executive Orders claim is False
In the last few days an item has been spreading around the internet about President Obama signing 923 executive orders during his term in office. A quick check shows this claim is false. In fact the ones in the article that are said to be signed to Obama actually were signed by other Presidents as the linked article shows.

The Annual Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday's Debate has begun and a Silly Debate it is
Posted by Zman
Looks like the annual Merry Christmas, Happy holiday's debate has begun, Too me the whole thing is silly. Happy Holiday's is said to include the entire season from Thanks giving to New years, Merry Christmas is said to reference that holiday specifically. I don't remember this being a big deal until the last ten to fifteen years. Up until then people said Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas and no one was offended by either greeting. and I'm seeing posts on both sides of the issue and to me the whole thing is silly. I mean how does someone saying Happy Holidays to you take away from your celebration of your holiday. and if someone says Merry Christmas to you even if you don't celebrate it why not just say Merry Christmas to you too in response. Getting all bent out of shape because someone wished you Merry Christmas makes you seem like a four year old. Same if you get bent out of shape if someone wishes you Happy Holiday's. How hard can it be to just say Happy holidays and a Merry Christmas to you too. Combine both greetings in your response. That's what I do when someone wishes me Merry Christmas. I say, "and a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season to you too." I personally prefer "Happy Holidays" because it includes the whole holiday season and what ever someone responds with I simply say, "thank you" It just seem to be a little childish to get hung up on a greeting. and that goes for people on both sides of this silly debate. Sheesh, seems like everything Christmas starts earlier every year.

Charlie Fuqua, Arkansas Legislative Candidate, Endorses Death Penalty For Rebellious Children In Book
Seems the Republican Party is full of people who are just bat shit crazy. and this guy tops the crazy pile. As far as I'm concerned he deserves to be tarred feathered and run out of town.
From the article
"The maintenance of civil order in society rests on the foundation of family discipline. Therefore, a child who disrespects his parents must be permanently removed from society in a way that gives an example to all other children of the importance of respect for parents. The death penalty for rebellious children is not something to be taken lightly. The guidelines for administering the death penalty to rebellious children are given in Deut 21:18-21:
This passage does not give parents blanket authority to kill their children. They must follow the proper procedure in order to have the death penalty executed against their children. I cannot think of one instance in the Scripture where parents had their child put to death. Why is this so? Other than the love Christ has for us, there is no greater love then [sic] that of a parent for their child. The last people who would want to see a child put to death would be the parents of the child. Even so, the Scrpture provides a safe guard to protect children from parents who would wrongly exercise the death penalty against them. Parents are required to bring their children to the gate of the city. The gate of the city was the place where the elders of the city met and made judicial pronouncements. In other words, the parents were required to take their children to a court of law and lay out their case before the proper judicial authority, and let the judicial authority determine if the child should be put to death. I know of many cases of rebellious children, however, I cannot think of one case where I believe that a parent had given up on their child to the point that they would have taken their child to a court of law and asked the court to rule that the child be put to death. Even though this procedure would rarely be used, if it were the law of land, it would give parents authority. Children would know that their parents had authority and it would be a tremendous incentive for children to give proper respect to their parents."
Any God that would condone this action is not the kind of higher power I'd choose to believe in. If that's his version of a loving caring higher power than no thanks, I'll pass. If I believed in a god it would not be the kind that would condone this action.

Our dog Marty was mauled to death/killed by 2 dogs trained to fight by a cocaine selling owner. Blaming a gun on killing someone is like blaming a pitbull for killing someone. A gun cannot by itself kill someone. A human being has to use it as a tool to kill. Exactly the same with a pitbull or a mistaken mixed breed dog that looks similair to a pit bull. I grew up playing with my aunts pitbulls, I have many friends with the breed and this photo describes their docile nature. A golden retriever can be trained to kill or maul if it is in the hands of criminal. please Hate the trainer who teaches any dog to be violent. Not the breed please.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars of my businesses’ money on advertising through facebook, and I’ve spent thousands and thousands of hours on Facebook. It’s outrageous that I would get deleted for political activism while blatantly racist pages are allowed to stay up"

Anti-Gay Groups Offer Model Policy to Protect religious Bullying
It is just sad that these groups think it is OK to use religion as an excuse to bully others. Groups like Focus on the Family are nothing more than hate groups trying to use religion as an excuse to spread hate. There policy suggestions are in the article below.
article here.
From the article
"Bullying policies should use “precise” definitions. The goal of this is to prioritize “free speech” over a safe learning environment. ADF even suggests that some forms of harassment might be “objectively reasonable,” implying that the bully should always be given the benefit of the doubt while the impact on the victim is disregarded.
Bullying policies should not apply to “religious, political, philosophical, or other protected student speech.” Like states that have tried to pass similar laws, this amounts to a “license to bully.” Given that anti-gay bullying is often justified by religious beliefs, such an exemption would invite bullying to persist, defeating the point of a comprehensive policy.
Bullying policies should not examine intent or include “re-education.” According to this ideal, a student who believes it’s okay to violently harass a gay student should never be taught to understand the nature of sexual orientation. Education about LGBT issues has been repeatedlyproven to make schools safer, but ADF remains adamantly opposed.
Bullying policies should never highlight certain characteristics (i.e. race, sexual orientation). Obviously, any sensible bullying policy covers all students, but it’s important to recognize certain types of bullying that often go unaddressed. Minnesota’s Anoka-Hennepin School District provides a prime example of how teachers and administrators neglected to interrupt anti-gay bullying or properly protect LGBT students.
Bullying policies should have no reporting requirements. The only way to actually address a bullying problem is to identify it. A policy with no reporting requirements for teachers is a policy with no accountability. ADF worries teachers and staff might “over-report bullying,” again, seeking to protect the bullies and not the victims.
Bullying policies should ignore cyberbullying and off-campus speech. Studies have shown that 90 percent of teens have experienced cyberbullying, but ADF believes it’s possible to distinguish between cyberbullying that happens on-campus or off-campus. Again, this reflects a commitment to protecting bullies’ speech instead of victims’ learning environment.
Bullying policies should not include any trainings or materials from “homosexual activist groups.” ADF doesn’t believe students should actually learn about why not to bully, only how not to bully, suggesting schools “limit the instruction to a description of bullying behavior.” Learning about LGBT people is important for all young people, even if they may not identify, and it’s completely outlandish for ADF to claim such materials “promote homosexual behavior.”
Bullying policies should always inform parents if their child is bullied or accused of bullying. This policy would be incredibly problematic for LGBT students who experience bullying, who would very likely be outed to their parents through this process. The leading reason 40 percent of homeless youth are LGBT is family rejection, so schools should consider each case independently and act in ways that best protect each child. ADF’s priority is a notion of “parents’ rights” that can further harm LGBT students or protect bullies from remediation.
Bullying policies should ignore anonymous complaints. Bullying creates a culture of fear, even for bystanders. Any student with the courage to report bullying, even anonymously, should be taken seriously. Again, ADF’s policy blatantly ensures more bullying goes unaddressed.
Bullying laws should exempt private schools. The state guarantees an educational experience for all young people, and just as private schools should be held accountable to academic standards, so too should they be held accountable for safe learning environments."
Just sad that people think this is OK.

From the article, "We hear a lot about “biblical marriage” these days, particular from right-wing conservatives battling the idea of same sex marriage or unions. The problem is that most of them are not clear on what that means. Here is a helpful article on the types of marriage found in the pages of the bible.
The important thing for conservatives to realize here is that none of these models are described as being any better than any other. They all appear to have been accepted throughout the bible.
So there you go. The next time someone opposed to gay marriage says that we need to stick with traditional biblical marriage in this country, you can ask them which of the eight kinds they would prefer, and why."

School says deaf boy's name sign looks too much like a gun
Brace yourselves, because this is the dumbest thing you'll hear all day. The Grand Island (Neb.) school district is forcing a 3-year-old deaf boy to change the way he signs his name, because they say his gestures violate their weapons policy. I think the people in charge of this school district really need their heads examined.

NOM's Brian Brown becomes accidental ally for marriage equality through a slip of the tongue
Who would have thought that from a quick slip of the tongue, Brown undermines the entire argument for passing laws against gay marriage and becomes the gay community's unwitting ally in the cause for marriage equality.
How quick will it be before he and NOM scramble to correct the public image damage of this one?

THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OFFICIALLY BELIEVES RAPE VICTIMS SHOULD BE FORCED TO GIVE BIRTH
Todd Akin simply said out loud what he and his colleagues think but aren’t supposed to say. Todd Akin simply said out loud what his voting record and the voting record of his conservative colleagues showed for years. Three weeks ago – 203 Republicans in the House of Representatives voted to prohibit abortions even in cases of rape or incest.
And now they've made that position the official party platform position just yesterday. Your move America.

Why do people insist on taking this crack pot seriously. I'm convinced if his parents had just gone to dinner instead, there would be one less crack pot TV preacher to deal with.

Religious Right Still Oblivious of their Double Standard on Boycotts
yep, if you boycott them you're attacking their "religious freedom" If they call for a boycott it is called "doing God's work" I'd like to know why these "religious groups" think they can tell companies who they can support. Groups like The American Family Association, Focus on the Family, Million Mom's March, and their ilk are nothing more than hate groups who hide behind religion to justify their bigotry. Using religion to justify bigotry is still bigotry.
Religious Right Still Oblivious of their Double Standard on Boycotts
What Did The Maya REALLY Say About 2012? Great article
Despite the media hype and doomsday predictions, turns out the Mayan's did not predict the end of the world on December 21st 2012. If the media would ask a modern Mayan they might find out the truth. Here's a very good article on the subject.
A quote from the article.
"“They’ve got it all wrong”, was the general consensus among the Maya elders of the Village of San Jose in Belize. One of the elders added, “Our ancestors didn’t believe in death or the end. They celebrated events like these by building new monuments, venerating ancestors, and doing festivals.” The Maya believed in regeneration, and they still believe in it today.
End of the World?
The Maya view of 2012 is a far cry from the doom and gloom scenarios presented by many speculative authors and filmmakers. The Mayas didn’t believe the world would end on 2012. In fact, cities like Palenque have carvings with celebratory dates like 1.0.0.0.0.8, which is over 4000 years after 2012."
What did the Mayan's Really say about 2012

13 Other things the Bible bans that pretty much all Christians do anyway
The main argument used by those who appose same sex marriage is "the bible bans it." Well, here's a list of thirteen things the bible bans that all the people who say they are against same sex marriage do on a daily basis.
Tattoos; Leviticus 19:28 states, “Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.” I have a sister who is apposed to same sex marriage but has a tattoo. hmmmmmmm.
Rounded haircuts; Leviticus 19:27 states, “Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.”
Men with injured private parts entering churches; Deuteronomy 23:1 states, “He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.” Even though most castrations were done by the church.
Consulting psychics; Leviticus 19:31 states, “Regard not them that have familiar
spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.”My mom actually believes this psychic stuff but she is apposed to same sex marriage
Gossiping; Leviticus 19:16 states, “Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbor; I am the LORD.”Well there goes all the tabloid TV shows and magazines. Not to mention talking about co workers around the water cooler
Wives helping their husbands in a fight; Deuteronomy 25:11-12 state, “When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.
Eating ham; Leviticus 11:7-8 read, “And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud, he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and heir carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.” how many Christians do you know who eat ham on Easter? My family does and they appose same sex marriage.
Children cursing their parents; Exodus 21:17 states, “And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.”I know many children who would be put to death my self included if this were actually enforced.
Getting remarried after getting divorced; Mark 10:11-12 state, “Whosoever putteth away his wife and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.”
Working on the sabbath; Exodus 31:14 states, “Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: everyone that defileth it shall surely be put to death…” I'd like to see someone try to use this to get out of working on Sunday. I can hear it now, "Sorry I can't work on Sundays because if I do I'll be put to death." You're probably not going to get very far using that one but how many people do you know who appose same sex marriage that also work on Sunday's?
Women speaking in church; 1 Corinthians 14:34 states, “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak…” God sounds a little sexist doesn't he? My mother is apposed to same sex marriage but she was a Sunday school teacher and has held office in her church.
Eating lobster, shrimp, and assorted seafood; Leviticus 10 states, “And all that have no fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you.” If you've ever eaten at a Red Lobster or any sea food place or even just gone fishing you've broken this one.
Losing your virginity before marriage; Deuteronomy 22:20-21 state, “But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die…”Most of the women I know would be dead if this were enforced.
A couple more things the bible says of note, If a woman is raped she is supposed to marry her rapist. God sure does treat women poorly doesn't he? and if you handle pig skin on the Sabbath you will be put to death. That would make Sunday afternoon football real interesting wouldn't it.
So you can see that trying to claim something should be illegal because the bible says so is just plain silly. I'm going to guess that most of those who believe same sex marriage is wrong because the bible says so also have broken most if not all of the laws listed above.
Condolences to a local Family
We here at Candidradio would like to send our condolences to the Family of local high school athlete Daniel Lule. Lule was a football player for Spring Valley Hall High School and collapsed during practice on Wednesday afternoon. He died soon after at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley. Lule was seventeen years old and died from an enlarged heart that was undetected. The death of someone is sad enough but when it happens to someone so young it is especially sad. The Bullies at Million Mom's March are at it Again
Posted by Zman
Looks like the busy bodies at Million Mom's March think they can tell TV networks what programming they can show
The New Norman Million Mom's March Boycotts New NBC sitcom.
From the article.
"NBC is using public airwaves to continue to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage. These things are harmful to our society, and this program is damaging to our culture."
Fist off they are a TV network and can show what ever they want with in FCC guidelines. NBC or any other network is not required to support or encourage any type of values. Not sure how they are attempting to redefine marriage simply by showing a sitcom. that argument makes no sense. Don't like it don't watch it. Also how is this program harmful to our culture. If they mean harmful to the culture of hate and bigotry then that is a good thing.
Also from the article.
"Millions of Americans strongly believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman. NBC's "The New Normal" is attempting to desensitize America and our children. It is the opposite of how families are designed and created. You cannot recreate the biological wheel."
Millions of Americans might believe that but that does not make them right and thankfully that attitude is changing. At one time Millions of Americans thought women should not vote and slavery was OK, and later separate but equal bathrooms for black people were acceptable. So to say "millions of Americans" think something is not a valid reason.
Another point is to suggest that it is somehow harmful to children is also silly and an argument I think most Americans just don't buy. How is it harmful to teach chldren to respect others and treat them right. Oh wait, that's something Christ might have done and we can't have that now can we. As far as "reinventing the biological wheel, homosexuality is found in some 450 species, so it sounds like biology is on the side of homosexuality. also it is a TV show, they are not trying to reinvent anything. It's about time we show these groups they don't have the right to bully companies and TV networks. contact the Million Mom's March and tell them they need to stop pushing their outdated homophobic ideas on everyone and stop being such busy bodies. Then contact the advertisers of this show and tell them you support them and you hope they will support this show and not vgive in to the small few who think they can bully everyone else.
From the article
"OMM is prepared to contact any and all sponsors of this program if it is aired. It is proven this strategy works"
They might want to check that statement because it clearly does not. The facts show that most people don't pay attention to the silliness of Million Mom's March.
Thankfully the attitude about same sex marriage is changing and soon groups like Million Mom's March will be a thing of the past relegated to the history books and laughed about.

Republican Horrified to Learn Christianity is not the only Religion
Let me introduce you to the dumbest person in America.
Republican Horrified to Learn school vouchers cover all religious Schools.
Some quotes from the article linked above.
"I actually support funding for teaching the fundamentals of America's Founding Fathers' religion, which is Christianity, in public schools or private schools. I liked the idea of giving parents the option of sending their children to a public school or a Christian school."
It is pretty sad to think that someone in congress is this dumb.
"We need to insure that it does not open the door to fund radical Islam schools. There are a thousand Muslim schools that have sprung up recently. I do not support using public funds for teaching Islam anywhere here in Louisiana."
I'd like to know where she got this number from. Hate to break this to her but if your going to have school vouchers for one religious school you have to allow them for all. Also to call all Muslims radical shows just how racist she really is. We need to get people like this out of office. I hope she gets raked over the coals for this.

How to Keep your Dog Safe on the Fourth Of July
Received this in an email today and thought I'd pass it along. (finally an email forward that is useful LOL)
Here are some things to do to make sure your pets are happy during the 4th of July weekend.
• Resist the urge to take your pet to fireworks displays.
• Do not leave your pet in the car. With only hot air to breathe inside a car, your pet can suffer serious health effects—even death—in a few short minutes. Partially opened windows do not provide sufficient air, but they do provide an opportunity for your pet to be stolen.
• Keep your pets indoors at home in a sheltered, quiet area. Some animals can become destructive when frightened, so be sure that you’ve removed any items that your pet could destroy or that would be harmful to your pet if chewed. Leave a television or radio playing at normal volume to keep him company while you’re attending Fourth of July picnics, parades, and other celebrations.
• If you know that your pet is seriously distressed by loud noises like thunder, consult with your veterinarian before July 4th for ways to help alleviate the fear and anxiety he or she will experience during fireworks displays.
• Never leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain. In their fear, pets who normally wouldn’t leave the yard may escape and become lost, or become entangled in their chain, risking injury or death.
• Make sure your pets are wearing CURRENT/UPDATED identification tags so that if they do become lost, they can be returned promptly. Animals found running at-large should be taken to the local animal shelter, where they will have the best chance of being reunited with their owners.
• If you plan to go away for the holiday weekend and take you pet, PLEASE make sure to be EXTRA careful. Your canine friend will not know where they are if they escape. Best to leave at home with a responsible dog sitter that understands the above rules or in a reputable boarding facility.

A Great Response to those who want to boycott Oreo Cookies for their support of Gay Rights
Posted by Zman
Don't know who wrote this but it is a very well written response to those anti gay boycott obsessed homophobes who are threatening to boycott Oreo cookies due to their support of gay rights.
"Yes, please boycott Oreo for their support of Gay Rights. We’ll all appreciate you going on a diet. While you’re at it, please also throw away your iPod, iPhone, and iPad since Apple supports as well. Hopefully you have lots of clothes, because you’ll need to ditch your Levi’s and Nike’s too. Perhaps you bought them at JC Penney’s or Sears? Sucks you’ll have to take them back or actually, anything you wear from anywhere probably had a gay involved. Flying somewhere soon? Better not be on American, Delta, Southwest, or United - you’ll need a new ticket. Airline wasn’t mentioned? Just be sure your jet isn’t Boeing made. Don’t sleep at Marriott or Hilton (or any of their family brands) because you might catch the gays they support. That morning coffee from Starbucks will have to go as well, go ahead and replace it with a McCafe. Oh wait, McDonald’s supports gay rights too. Hmm, do you clean with Tide, Gain, or Bounty? Use Duracell batteries, shave with Gillette, or use Fixodent? Brush with Crest, use Pantene, Scope, Tampax, Venus, or Old Spice products? Those are all gone too, stupid Proctor & Gamble supporting the gays. Damn, you’re using Internet Explorer or Chrome to see Facebook and read this status? Download something else, Microsoft and Google show their Pride as well. Ah, but your drinks are safe. Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Budweiser are on your side - if your side is on the right side of history since all three also support Gay Rights. Hopefully, you or your lawyer will never need in-depth research. Both LexisNexis and Westlaw, who together control the market, support Gay Rights. Drive that big, manly, Ford F350? It’s a "Friend of Dorothy" too, as its company Ford and General Motors also support the rights of all. So, do us all a favor, don’t take it all out on a festive cookie - just stay home and boycott everything." (Unknown)
I wish we knew who wrote this because it sums it up quite well.

Back in my day, The Cave Man version
Posted by Zman
If you read some peoples posts on Facebook or even hear them talk you'd get the impression that back in "their day" all kids were beaten with belts when they misbehaved, no kid was allowed indoors during daylight hours, All moms voices could be heard for miles and miles calling their kids to come home at night, and all kids were very well behaved and no one ever dissagreed with their parents. Seems to me that some people view the past with selective memory. It got me to thinking how would a caveman write a back in my day story. Here's how I think it wold go.
You know kids have it so good today, back in my day we didn't have these new fangeld housed, we lived in caves and if the wind was blowing in you just got cold we din't need any freaking doors. and food, we couldn't just get in the car and go to the store, we had to kill our food with a spear and if you're aim was bad you just went hungry. If you wanted to go out with the girl in the cave next door you just went to her cave and conked her in the head and drug her away. We didn't have to bother with the formality of asking her out. and if you got sick you could not go to the doctor, you either got better or just dropped dead eventually and we liked it that way. Words, all we could do was grunt and snort. If you wanted to talk to the cave village down the road, we didn't have no fancy smancy can and string, you sent smoke signals and hoped the wind was out of the right direction. Things were so much better back then. Kids today have i9t so easy.
See how silly those back in my day stories are. The fact is the stuff in those back in my day posts are pretty far from the way things actually were. As we get older we tend to remember the past the way we wish it had been and not the way it really was.

Why do stores insist on having their over head music so loud
Posted by Zman
I don't know about you but one thing that irks me is when you walk in to a store or restaurant and they have the music so loud you can't hear yourself think. My wife went in to our local Staples and Menards on Tuesday and both paces had the music so loud my wife and I had to keep asking each other what the other one said and we were walking right next to each other. I wonder if businesses realize how annoying that is to their customers. Same goes for restaurants I can't tell you how many times we have gone out to eat and the music is so loud it is impossible to carry on a conversation and if you're out with a group, forget about hearing anyone else at the table. Also makes it hard to enjoy your meal when you have music blaring in your ear. Now I like loud music as much as the next person but when I'm out and I think most people will agree, music should be back ground. It should add to the experience not be so loud that you have to yell at the person next to you so they can hear you.

(Video) Child Preformes Anti Gay song in Church.
video here.
It is sad enough when people use their religion to spread hate. It is even worse when they have a child do it. Especially one who is too young to understand what they are singing about. Pure brain washing. Any god that would condone this kind of activity is not a god I'd choose to believe in. People who use religion to spread hate are the worst kind of biggots

Pet Population
Four million cats and dogs—about one every eight seconds—are put down in U.S. shelters each year. Often these animals are the offspring of cherished family pets. Spay/neuter is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, ensuring that every pet has a family to love them.
Many cats and dogs who die as a result of pet overpopulation could have made wonderful pets.
A solution is possible and starts with each of us taking one small step: getting our own pets spayed or neutered. To help stop pet overpopulation further, consider adopting your next pet from an animal shelter.

Spanking How it Can Backfire. My experience growing up being spanked.
Posted by Zman
A discussion on a Facebook group I belong to inspired this post. It was on the topic of weather spanking is abuse. Now I will say right off that I am against spanking as punishment. The harmful effects are well documented. It can lead to aggression, Anxiety and Depression among other problems. (I'll put some links at the end that give mroe detail of the harmful effects) . I can vouch for the aggression as that is what I learned from it. I'll explain. My sisters and I were spanked as children and not all that hard either. Just a few taps on the rear end. We were also slapped for mouthing off. What this taught me was that violence was a proper way to solve a problem. Here's what I mean. I'd get spanked for doing something my parents did not like so that taught me that if my sisters did something I did not like the right way to solve the problem was to hit them. That's all I learned from being spanked. It did not teach me right from wrong. As I got older my parents would threaten a spanking and my thought was that they really didn't have any other way to solve a problem than threatening a spanking? These people are not very smart. Also it caused me to lose respect for them not gain it. To me all spanking shows is a parent who has lost control. I know many people who raise their kids just fine without spanking them and most of them are far better behaved and show more respect to their parents than those children who are spanked. Heck, twenty three countries have even outlawed the practice and their kids seem to be doing just fine (some info below in the linked articles talk about this see the Spanking Fact and Fiction article) . If you're going to use spanking that is your choice but I think it back fires on parents more than it succeeds. I think it is a punishment who's time has passed.
