Annoying Facebook Post Rant. Most People Don't Care If You're Religious, They Care If you're A Good Person Who Treats Others With Respect

Once in a while on my news feed, I'll see a friend post about how proud they are to be a Christian and if someone is offended then that is too bad. This is always posted by one of my conservative friends. I wonder if the people who post this realize that most people don't care what religion they practice. To most of us, it does not matter if you worship cats as long as you are a decent person. What most people care about is do you treat others with respect and not judge others based on their race, color, creed, sexual orientation. Or are you a homophobic prick who uses your religion to justify discriminating against others. Instead of bragging about how "proud you are to be a Christian," how about being a decent person. That is what people will remember and decide what kind of person they think you are and if they want to associate with you. Not that you go to church every Sunday. Trust me, I have known many people who claimed they were "good Christians" and go to church every Sunday and they are some of the most judgmental people I have ever met. When I see someone brag about that on Facebook it makes me wonder how decent of a person they really are if they feel the need to point this out. People are going to remember how you treat others, not what religion you practice. Going to church does not make you a Christian any more than standing inside a garage makes you a truck. To most people, what religion you are is not a big deal, the important thing to most of us is how you treat others.

So You Think Your God Will Take Care of Climate Change. Maybe He Has Been Trying To Help But You're Not Taking The Hints

So Michigan Rep. Tim Walberg thinks God will take care of climate change. As an Atheist I find this logic rather odd but If I believed this god existed, I picture this conversation taking place between God and Jesus about how he has been trying to help humans take care of climate change but some just are not taking the hint.
God, "Jesus Christ"
Jesus "yes dad."
God, "I swear many of these kids of mine expect me to do everything for them. I have tried to help them take care of climate change but these fools just don't seem to get it. I helped them discover alternative f sources like wind power. and solar power and a few others too yet these people who claim to follow and listen to me just don't seem to be getting the idea that I am trying to take care of climate change. Instead, the conservatives in the US are more concerned with who marries who and what a woman does with her body. Whether people are working on Sunday or if they wear mixed fabrics or eat shrimp. It seems the people who don't believe in me are better at being Christians and many of those who claim to believe in me. Just wait until some of these children of mine get back home. They are in some deep trouble. Using my name to discriminate against others based on a book that was written by man to control people. and misrepresenting me. Yep, they are really in for it when they get home."
Jesus, "Is it time for me to go down there and kick some ass."
God, No, not yet. Eventually, someone down there might take the hint that I've been trying to help take care of climate change for a while. There are some who are getting the message and trying but I'm not suer what kind of help they are expecting but I'm not going to do everything for them. some things your kids just have to figure out on their own."
My point is If you believe in God and are convinced he will take care of climate change and are wondering what he will do or when he will do it, Maybe he has been trying to help all along. You're just too blind to see it. My Grandmother used to say 'God helps those who help themselves" Advice some Mr. Walberg and the rest of the conservatives who believe the way he does might want to think about.
Of course, I don't believe in any higher power but if I did, I can imagine that this God would be thinking this very thing.

Man Writes Letter To Austin Mayor Complaining About Woman's Only Screening Of Wonder Woman

Posted by Zman

I have been reading with some amazment the about the men who are allup in arms over an Austin movie theater showing a woman's only screening of "wonder woman" The fact that there are men who are very upset over this is quite frankly rather embarrassing.  Do they realize they are all butt hurt over a private business making a business decision and by the way, it is not like it is the only showing of the film.  come on boys, quite throwing your temper tantrum and go take your nap.  You're mom will have your snack ready for you when you wake up.  Anyway, one man, Richard A Ameduri, was so upset by this he actually wrote a letter to Austin's Mayor expressing his anger and frustration.  As you can imagine the letter was full of misinformation and shows Mr. Ameduri's ignorance and sexism.  The mayor had a great responce.  The letter and the Mayor's response are below.

Fist the letter.

""I hope every man will boycott Austin and do what he can to diminish Austin and to cause damage to the city's image. The theater that pandered to the sexism typical of women will, I hope, regret it's decision. The notion of a woman hero is a fine example of women's eagerness to accept the appearance of achievement without actual achievement. Women learn from an early age to value make-up, that it's OK to pretend that you are greater than you actually are. Women pretend they do not know that only men serve in combat because they are content to have an easier ride. Women gladly accept gold medals at the Olympics for coming in 10th and competing only against the second class of athletes. Name something invented by a woman! Achievements by the second rate gender pale in comparison to virtually everything great in human history was accomplished by men, not women. If Austin does not host a men only counter event, I will never visit Austin and will welcome it's deterioration. And I will not forget that Austin is best known for Charles Whitman. Does Austin stand for gender equality or for kissing up to women? Don't bother to respond. I already know the answer. I do not hate women. I hate their rampant hypocrisy and the hypocrisy of the 'women's movement.' Women do not want gender equality; they want more for women. Don't bother to respond because I am sure your cowardice will generate nothing worth reading.
"Richard A. Ameduri"

Now for the mayor's response and it is great.

""Dear Mr. Ameduri,
"I am writing to alert you that your email account has been hacked by an unfortunate and unusually hostile individual. Please remedy your account's security right away, lest this person's uninformed and sexist rantings give you a bad name. After all, we men have to look out for each other!
"Can you imagine if someone thought that you didn't know women could serve in our combat units now without exclusion? What if someone thought you didn't know that women invented medical syringes, life rafts, fire escapes, central and solar heating, a war-time communications system for radio-controlling torpedoes that laid the technological foundations for everything from Wi-Fi to GPS, and beer? And I hesitate to imagine how embarrassed you'd be if someone thought you were upset that a private business was realizing a business opportunity by reserving one screening this weekend for women to see a superhero movie.
"You and I are serious men of substance with little time for the delicate sensitivities displayed by the pitiful creature who maligned your good name and sterling character by writing that abysmal email. I trust the news that your email account has been hacked does not cause you undue alarm and wish you well in securing your account. And in the future, should your travels take you to Austin, please know that everyone is welcome here, even people like those who wrote that email whose views are an embarrassment to modernity, decency, and common sense.
"Yours sincerely,
"Steve Adler"

I do want to thank Mr. Ameduri for the comic relief and writing a letter that is sure to make him the laughing stock of the internet.  I also applaud the mayor for writing a great response.  And really Mr. Ameduri you are wishing bad fortune on a city just because a theater decides to have a special showing of a movie for a select group of people?  I do hope the mayor was right and our account was hacked because I could not imagine writing that uninformed sexist drival yyouwrote and actually taking it seriously.
