Fake News Sites are Under Attack And They Don't Like It.

The Mail Online website which is one of those sites known for publishing Fake News and then having a hissy fit when sites like Snopes, Politifact and other fact checking sites call them out for their false stories is lashing out as it and other Fake News sites are being more closely scrutinized by social media giant Facebook with help from sites like snopes to flag Fake News Stores and help cut down on the number of these kinds of stories that are shared on the social media site.

Well as you can imagine the Fake News sites like The Mail Online  and BraitBart are not happy about this.  In fact The Mail Online  published an article recently about Snopes trying to cast doubt on the site and its fact checking reliability by bringing up things from the founding couple, David and Barbara Mikkelson's  personal life and divorce that  have nothing to do with  the ability of the site to fact check. The Fake News sites have no real argument for doing what they do so they have to attack the source.

Here is an article that goes in to more detail.

(Story I Forgot To Talk About On The Morning Rush Saturday) Employees Use Sex Toys To Chase Off Armed Robber.

When posting the archive for The Morning Rush that aired this past Saturday, I realized I teased this story but forgot to talk about it.  I hate when that happens but it does happen occasionally.  I do apologize. but the comment I was going to make on air was, "If this guy is caught, does he admit to his fellow inmates what he was arrested for and that he was chased out by people throwing sex toys at him?  I'm guessing he'll be the laughing stock of the whole jail.  word about this gets out among the jail population, he'll be subject to all kinds of ridicule.  Plus  I guess the employees were not impressed by thee size off his weapon."

Here is the story.

Devils & Angels | Family Feud

I talked about this a while back on the air and if you have not seen it this is funny.

Couponing mom attacked inside grocery store for holding up the line

Hope they catch the creep. My guess is this worthless excuse for a "man" voted for Trump. He acted like a four year old child throwing a temper tantrum. Littleflurry and I hope this woman can get help for the tr4ama she suffered and I hope this creep has to pay for her treatment. No excuse for a grown "man" to act this way. Also the world man is not appropriate to describe the kind of piece of shit wwho would act like this. He is a worthless coward who attacked a woman and ran away.

To The People Who Say Protesters Are Being Paid, How Do I Get One Of These Alleged Paid Protester Jobs

The funny part, or maybe not so funny, is the guy who came up with this whole thing about protesters being paid to protest admitted it was fake and said yes, he made the whole thing up, yet people still believe it is true. So to the people who keep claiming those protesting Donald Trumps election are being paid by Hillary Clinton I would like to know where these paid protester jobs are too as we could use the extra money. But of course I would only want to get paid for protesting something I actually would protest anyway. I mean I'm not just going to protest something because I'm getting paid for it. I would still have to believe in the cause. So if someone could point me in the direction of these paid protester jobs I keep hearing about that would be nice but whenever I ask one of these people who claims these jobs are out there they never seem to have any information on how to apply for one. I guess the people who believe this stuff are dumb enough to think they won't be questioned about it. So again, to those who keep saying all these paid protester jobs exist, please tell me where I can apply as littleflurry and I could use some extra cash as we have a whole bunch of medial bills to pay off. Oh that's right, conspiracy theorists don't actually need facts to back up their claims. Silly me. :)

Candidradio Live will be on This Thursday December 8 instead of the usual Tuesday Time Slot This Week

Remembering A Few Cubs Fans In My Life Who Are No Longer With us

Posted by Zman

I am watching the game now. heard most of it before work last night on the radio. Out of all the game sevens I have seen, it was the best one so far. I can't put in to words how happy I am that the #Cubs are World Series Champions. It still seems like a dream. I am also thinking about a few Cubs fans that have passed away First, our neighbor Louie who passed away almost a year ago. He was as big a Cub fan as I am. I would go outside to take out the trash or do something in the yard and the next think I knew we were on his porch, on our third or forth beer either listening to a game or talking Cubs baseball. I wish he were still here to see this. Also my Grandmother on my dads side who took me to several Cubs games every year from 85-90 for my birthday. She was a dire hard Cubs fan and we would also talk Cubs baseball for hours. My wife Jennifer's grandfather who I bonded with over our love for baseball and the Cubs. Even though he lived near Kansas City he was able to watch all the Cubs games on WGN TV for years. Jenn and I went there on several vacations and yes we took in a few royals games too, and he and I would sit at the kitchen table, he would ave the TV on his bedroom and the TV would also be on in the living room with the same game going on both TV's turned up loud enough so we could hear it and still talk to each other. Between the Cubs, The Royals or whatever game was on ESPN it seemed we always had a game on but The Cubs game always took priority over who ever else was playing. If he were still alive he'd be thrilled to see this moment. I'm sure most of us have at least one relative or friend who was a Cubs fan that we are thinking about as we enjoy this historic moment in baseball. that ended with a game seven that will probably go down in history as one of the greatest game sevens of all time. These are just a few of the Cubs fans in my life who have passed away.

Congratulations to the Cubs on winning the 2016 world Series and thanks to both the Cubs and Cleveland Indians for giving us a memorable series and an awesome game seven.

Not Standing For The National Anthem, I'm Amazed By How People Are Overreacting.

Really people, you're thinking of disowning your football team if they or a member of the team does not stand for the National Anthem? You do realize it is a persons' right to peacefully protest, and they don't have to do it in only the manner you approve of. If you don't like it, fine, but if you are going to stop rooting for your favorite team because someone does not stand for the National Anthem? Then you were not really a fan in the first place and you are over reacting to a non news story. With all the other things going on in the country and the world, is this something you really need to get your panties in a wad over?

A Note About Posting The Archives For The Morning Rush and Candidradio Live

Hello, just wanted to let you all know why it is taking longer for me to post the archives of the shows.  We had to change the way we post the archives to make sure we are keeping in compliance with music licensing rules.  In order to do this we have started using Mixcloud.  When we post the archives on mixcould we have to do what is called time stamping which involves entering the information for everything played on our shows.  Artist, title, and time played.  This of course takes four hours per show so it takes a little longer to get the archives posted for Candidradio Live and The Morning Rush but they should be posted within a week of when they air.

Although most blind people I know including me actually give these answers.  Found this one on Facebook and I had to share it.

Silly questions that people who are blind get asked, and the responses we want to use. 1. QUESTION: Have you been blind all your life? ANSWER: Not yet. 2. QUESTION: You blind people have great hearing right? ANSWER: Pardon? 3. QUESTION: Is that a Guide dog? ANSWER: No, it’s a drug detection dog. I’m a narc disguised as a blind person. 4. QUESTION: Is that a Labrador? ANSWER: No, it’s a dachshund. 5. COMMENT: I’d have to kill myself if I went blind. REPLY: Why wait? 6. COMMENT TO GUIDE DOG (working): You’re sooooo beautiful. REPLY FROM HANDLER: Thank you, but I’m spoken for. 7. QUESTION: Those dogs are smart, aren’t they? ANSWER: No, it’s pure luck that we get anywhere. 8. QUESTION (directed to the person standing next to the blind person in a store): Does he need something? REPLY (from blind person): Yep, ‘he … needs to speak with your manager.’

Visual Impairments and Internet Use, What A Friend Learned When She Started Transcribing Facebook Memes

Posted by Zman

My friend Steph who writes for The Inqisiter wrote this piece yesterday.  Very well written.

From the article

"Partway through July, I started thinking about Facebook memes and how inaccessible they can be to people with visual impairment. I decided that for the rest of the month, I’d transcribe any memes I shared, and see if I could make it a habit. Once I started, I realized just how often social shares are actually pictures of text — which people who are blind or have impairment of vision cannot read.
Maybe you’re wondering how someone with visual impairment is accessing Facebook at all. The answer is that many use screen readers. Others have some visual impairment, but see well enough to read some text.

The problem with a screen reader, of course, is that it doesn’t “see” the text, in the visual sense — it’s a program and it “reads” only what is recognized as text, which means something typed out. If you take a photo of yourself and write “Selfie day!” across it and post it on Facebook, a screen reader won’t see those words as text, but as part of a visual image it should skip. If you want your friends with visual impairment to see those words, you may need to type them out."

Status Updates People Need To Stop Sharing On Facebook.

Posted by Zman

We have all seen them and we have at least one friend who shares them.  I'm talking about status updates on Facebook that just make you cringe and wonder what the person was thinking when they shared that status.  Here are just a few things that people need to stop sharing on Facebook.

1.  Guilt Trip Posts.  Any post that says, "since no one reads my posts" or "most of my friends won't share this" or "let's see who really cares about me." etc is a guilt trip post and is a good way to get your post ignored.  The reason most of your friends won't share that post is because they don't care to be guilt tripped.  Most people I know myself included just skip right over those kinds of posts.  so if you're wondering why your friends are not reading your posts it is because you are trying to guilt trip them.

2.  The old Facebook is going to charge a fee unless you post this status update.  This one has been around so long I am surprised anyone still falls for it but at least once a year some ding dong on my friends list shares this one and yes they get made fun of for falling for it.  Hee is the scoop.  Facebook has not plans and never has had plans to charge a fee for their service.  and even if they did do you really think posting a status update to your wall is going to keep them from doing it?  This hoax dates back to the days of Myspace so why people are still falling for it just makes me shake my head.

3.  Memes that tell you to pray for people after a tragedy.  Instead of folding yyour hands and talking to your imaginary friend here is an idea.  Do something to help those affected by whatever happened.  donate blood, send food, clothing, etc.  You know, actually do something.

4.  click like or type Amen posts.  Those are just like farming scams the only ones saying Amen are the scammers who put up the page to gather likes and shares so they can sell the page and send you junk posts

5.  Memes that say if you click like or share something good will happen.  I wonder if people realize that something good would happen weather they share or like the post,   Those tend to also be like farming scams as well so they should also be avoided.

6.  Status updates complaining about people sending game requests.  I know those can be annoying but the person does not send those out.  The games themselves do.  Your friend who plays the game more than likely has no idea the game sent you a request.  You have to go in and block the game.

7.  pictures of what you are eating.  Remember back before social media when we took a picture of our food and went door to door to show each of our friends and family the picture of what we ate for dinner last night?  NO, Me neither because it did not happen so let's not do it on Facebook.  Now I'm all for sharing directions on how to cook something and even a picture to go along with it but I really don't need to see a picture of what you are eating.

8.  Pictures of you child on the toilet.  Now I am all for updates on my friends kids mile stones and many times a picture is nice.  but please, no one wants to see a picture of little Betty on the toilet.  I don't know in what alternate universe that parent lives in who thinks people want to see that but they don't.

9.  Posts that shame people for what they should or should not be wearing at a certain age.  How about we stop judging people.  If someone is comfortable wearing something then that is their business.  If you don't  like the fact that kids wear baggy pants then don't look at them.  No need to shame people based on what they wear.  Also while I'm on the subject.  your kids don't care if you think their music sucks.  They have their music just like we had ours.  They are allowed to like their music without our input.  When you complain about someone's music you sound like an old fart.  Knock it off.

10.  Vaguebooking.  If you have something to say just say it.  People don't have time to play twenty questions. If you can't tell the whole story then don't say anything abut it.  No need for the vague posts.

I'm sure there are more but those are the big ones that annoy most people.

Marriage Equality Was Legalized One Year Today In The U S, So Where Are The Disasters That Were Predicted

Posted by Zman

One year ago today the U S celebrated a great day as the U S Supreme Court ruled five to four in favor of marriage equality.  It should have been a 9 to 0 vote but at least it was made legal.  If you recall the far right was prediction how god was going to send his wrath against the U S if gays were allowed to marry.  Some goof balls were even predicting that this would lead to people marrying their dogs.  Yes, silly as it sounds, there are people who actually think that.  Also some were saying how it would taint the institution of marriage.  The list of dumb predictions goes on and on.  So, it has been a year.  Where is gods wrath?  Where are these preachers who said they would set themselves on fire to protest same sex marriage, how about all the civil unrest that these preachers said they were planning in the wake of he supreme court ruling.   I have not seen or heard anything from these nuts or their god.  If god exists I would think he has more important things to worry about then who gets married to whom.   With all the problems going on around the world think a supreme being would have better things to do than send storms and other disasters after people just because of their sexual orientation.   Seems that god if he does exist is not really that concerned about it.   So right wing nuts, when is all this bad stuff supposed to start happening?

Donald Trump Tells Drought Stricken California "There Is No Drought"

He claims the drought is being manufactured by state officials who are actually diverting water in to the ocean to protect a three inch long fish.  Of course he has no evidence to back up this claim.   It just saddens me that there are people who actually take this "man" seriously and are actually going to vote for him.  Telling Californians there is not drought would be like gong in to a cancer hospital and telling cancer patents that there is no cancer.   If he actually has the chance to carry out his plan that will make the situation much worse.  Although Trump would never admit that if it did happen.  He would just deny it is happening.  He says he is drawing big crowds.  Drawing big crowds of racist, homophobic, science denying morons is not something I would be advertising.  Hitler drew big crowds too.  Just because someone draws "big crowds" does not mean it is a good thing.

These Bathroom Laws Need to be Flushed Down the Toilet

Posted by Zman

As we all know by now North Carolina has a law that requires people to use the bathroom that corresponds to their biological sex.  In other words if they were born a male they have to use the Men's Room or if they were born female they have to use the Women's room.  The law puts trans gender people in the position of not being able to use the bathroom of th sex they are now.  This missguided laws claim they are "protecting children from those who change their sex to prey on children and women in public restrooms.  These laws assume that people who are transgender are perverts who prey on children and women which is in fact not true and a baseless fear being spread by ignorant people who probably have taken a piss next to a transgender person more times then they realize.  Look,   Let me put this simply so even an idiot can understand.  People who are transgender are born one sex but feel they should have been born the opposite.   They are not transgender because they want to go in to the opposite sex restroom and molest your daughter.  You are probably more likely to get gang raped by a heard of moose while walking backwards on your hands blindfolded  in Arizona then you are to be assaulted by a transgender person in the bathroom at Sears.  Now the Department of Justice is suing North Carolina and they of course being idiots, are suing back claiming they want toe courts to rule that HB2 does not discriminate.  They must have a pretty weird view of discrimination.  "On Monday A North Carolina school system adopted a policy allowing high school students  carry pepper spray this fall, a policy one board member said may be useful for students who encounter transgender classmates in the bathroom.
The Salisbury Post reports (http://bit.ly/1TzmUGY) the policy was adopted by the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education during a work session on Monday.
Board member Chuck Hughes said using the sprays was purely defensive, and he referenced the North Carolina law that limits LGBT rights, saying such sprays could help female students if they go to the bathroom and don't know who's coming in after them."  Full article here.  Now I'm all for students carrying pepper spray for defense.  but it should not be used to attack someone for simply using the bathroom.   It is both sad and scary that people like Chuck Hughes is allowed to make educations decisions about children.  Honestly with his attitude, I wouldn't hire him to pick up my dog poop.

Read more here: http://www.newsobserver.com/news/nation-world/national/article76827092.html#storylink=cpy

If you are the kind of person that is that obsessed over who is taking a dump in the stall next to you, then maybe you're the pervert.  Most people don't care.  Most rational people go in the bathroom, do what ever they need to do and get out.  Not a big deal.   We don't care what the person next to us is using to go to the bathroom.   If these people who love to spread fear would actually put their efforts in to actually doing good, just imagine the progress we could make if these fearful hateful sad excused for human beings would just change their ways and stop using hate and ignorance to discriminate against others.

WATCH: Woman Confronts Man for Using Food Stamps at Walmart

So many people who use food stamps are hard working individuals who just want to support their families. This man just wants to buy food and necessities for his child and the fact that this woman has the nerve to cause a scene over something that is quite literally none of her business is disgusting. She doesn't know this man's story and it's not her place or any of our places to judge. I hope one day this man doesn't have to use food stamps as a means to provide for his family and this woman pulls her head out of her ass.   This woman is an ignorant, judgmental, nosy piece of trash.

Ignorant Parents at School Board Meeting Who Don't Want to Hear the Facts About Transgender Teens Break in to Song to Drown Out The Facts.

I Guess when you have no argument against the facts, the go to response by ignorant, fear mongering morons is to break in to a religious song.  Very happy this one mother stood up to defend the rights of Trans Gender students and shame on the ignorant "parents" for sticking their fingers in their ears and going lalalalalalala

From the article.

"One lone parent stood up to the hundreds in the room asking why trans students don't deserve the same rights as all the other students. Melanie Moore "argued that transgender people should not be lumped into the same category as pedophiles, rapists or other criminals. She also tried to explain how transgender students are born one sex, but feel as though they should have been born the opposite gender – though she was shouted over by many members of the crowd," The State reports.
“Everybody is concerned about their children. The transgender parents are concerned about their children too, so I thought it was important that somebody stand up for them,” Moore said.
After more than six minutes of defending her position, Moore was silenced when parents broke out into song to drown her out. "Jesus love me, yes I know, for the Bible tells me so," a popular Christian hymn, they chose to end discussion."

How these "Bathroom Laws" Affect Children with Special Needs

One of the many issues with these so called "bathroom Laws" is they discriminate against children with special needs.  These laws do contain an exemption if you are a care giver but they do not allow lets say a parent with a special needs child over seven years old to accompany an opposite sex parent in to the bathroom if the parent has to use the restroom but the child cannot be left unsupervised and wait outside.  I was thinking about this the other night at work as I saw a parent wheel a child in a wheel chair in the the restroom for this very reason.  I had to use the restroom myself at work and noticed this was what was going on and wondered how this would work in these states that have "bathroom laws" turns out my fear was justified.  Here is an article that talks about this very thing.

A high school senior was pulled from class and forced to kneel in front of administrators for ‘dress code violation’

This is clearly a human rights violation.  The Principle should be fired for this outrage,  I'm guessing no male students have to do this for a "dress code violation"   Also it is not a girls job to keep boys from being distracted.  This culture of shaming girls and young women for what they wear needs to stop and the school administrators who do it should never be allowed to work around kids ever again.

From the article.

"There is absolutely nothing wrong with what she is wearing. Everything but her arms and neck are completely covered. Black tights, black boots, her butt isn’t hanging out. What exactly is the problem here? Durbin’s own mother, Alexandria, said in an interview with WBKO, “I’ve had people saying that’s something they would wear to church. If it’s appropriate for you to go to church in, why isn’t it appropriate for you to go to school in.” Good question.
Never mind the fact that a real distraction is Durbin being forced to miss most of her education that day because someone thought her dress might have been a little too shorteven though it wasn’t. It is not a teenage girl’s job to hide her body in shame because it may pull the eyes of a co-ed away from the blackboard and it’s absolutely disgraceful that we should put that kind of pressure onto young women."

Why You May Not Want to Win That Powerball jackpot

Seems many people are talking about what they would do if they won the Powerball drawing which now could reach 1.3 Billion dollars.  Well, Clark Howard has a good article on why you may not want to win the big prize and he seems to hint that winning the lottery is not a good thing no matter what the amount is.
