You're wrong about recycling paper.
1> Wood for paper is grown on farms. We are not cutting down old-growth forests for paper. We're cutting it down for lumber. Is your house made of wood?
2> The landfills are not a problem. There's plenty of space for landfills. The problem is that noone wants them near (like, within miles of) where they live. The problem is sprawl and NIMBYism, not recycling.
